The inception of Cobb Funeral Chapel marked the realization of a lifelong aspiration that began to take shape during Bobby Cobb's high school years. Hailing from Colquitt County and nurtured within the Riverside Community, Bobby's immersion in the funeral industry commenced as a young student when he embarked on a journey at Henderson Funeral Home in Moultrie. It was here that the seeds of his ardor for the funeral sector, encompassing ambulance service at the time, were sown, ultimately culminating in a momentous achievement as he walked across the stage to receive his diploma from Moultrie High School in 1964. Fuelled by an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, he proceeded to further his education at the prestigious Kentucky School of Mortuary Science.

Notably, Bobby's tenacity and commitment to excellence came to the forefront during his time at the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science. Graduating with distinction, his unwavering dedication was evident through his concurrent role as the class president. In 1967, he proudly earned his license in mortuary science and embalming, solidifying his expertise and paving the way for a remarkable future in the industry.

In 1968, a pivotal year both personally and professionally, Bobby's journey intertwined with that of Gayla King Cobb, leading to their union in marriage. This partnership not only marked the beginning of a beautiful personal chapter but also set the stage for a monumental collaborative effort within the funeral industry.

Bobby's tireless dedication, a hallmark of his character, continued as he devoted the subsequent eleven years to Henderson Funeral Home. However, the vision he had nurtured since his formative years was undeniably propelling him toward a new horizon. Bobby and Gayla's shared dream, grounded in a profound ethos, bore fruit when they took the bold step of establishing Cobb Funeral Chapel in 1974.

At its core, the foundation of Cobb Funeral Chapel was fortified by an unwavering creed: a commitment to treat all individuals with the same heartfelt care and empathy that one would extend to their own kin. This guiding principle was a testament to Bobby and Gayla's genuine reverence for every life that they touched, transcending social strata and backgrounds. In addition to the funeral home, their unwavering commitment to the community led them to create Cobb Monument Company, a testament to their dedication to preserving legacies for generations to come.

Not content with resting on their laurels, Bobby and Gayla expanded their impact even further. The acquisition of Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens demonstrated their resolute determination to provide comprehensive support to families during their times of need.

As the architectural embodiment of their aspirations, the new funeral home stood as a testament to their ceaseless pursuit of excellence. While the specific year of its completion remains to be added, its significance as a tangible representation of their enduring legacy is unquestionable.
