Zira Plemmons Welch

Zira Plemmons Welch, 83, of Moultrie, GA, transitioned to her heavenly home on Friday, May 19, 2023, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held in Canton, North Carolina, with details to be announced soon.

Born June 6, 1939, in Canton, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Devallon Stewart Plemmons and Ova Elizabeth West Plemmons.  Mrs. Welch was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished every moment with her precious family. She was known for her beautiful flowers and enjoyed gardening.  She moved to Moultrie in 2018 and thoroughly enjoyed the transition and fellowship with her new friends at Magnolia Manor and later at Legacy Village of Park Regency.  During her life, she was a faithful member of Biltmore Baptist Church in Asheville and later Canton First Baptist Church in Canton, North Carolina.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Boyd Welch.

Survivors include her children; Brian Stewart Welch of Canton, North Carolina, and Celina Welch Barber and husband Cecil of Moultrie, Georgia; and grandchildren, Christine Louise Barber and Victoria Lynne Barber.

Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with local arrangements, and Wells Funeral Home in Canton, North Carolina will complete the services.
