Moultrie, Georgia – William Jackson Powell, 85, of Moultrie, Georgia, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Mount Sinai Baptist Church, with the Pastor William Jackson Powell III, officiating. Interment will be at Mount Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 PM, Sunday, at Mount Sinai Baptist Church.

Casketbearers will be Chandler Welch, John Henry Siler, Jared Powell, John David Powell, Aeden Siler and William J. Powell III.

Born January 5, 1941, in Colquitt, Georgia, he was a son of James Lawson Powell and Anna Mae Arnold Powell, of blessed memory.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Johnnie Mack Powell.

Survivors include his children, William Jackson Powell II, and wife, Millie, Bonnie Welch and husband, Rick, John David Powell and Peggy Sue Siler and husband, John; grandchildren, Jacquelyn Mallory and husband, Caleb, William Powell III and wife, Laurn, Jared Powell and wife, Emily, Chandler Welch, Makayla Welch, Alice Siler and John Henry Siler; great-grandchildren, Emmett Mallory, Everleigh Mallory, Maya Powell, Aeden Siler and Alija Siler; brother, Lawrence Powell; as well as several nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.

He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps before embarking on a career in the construction industry, where he worked as a respected supervisor. A skilled and mechanically inclined man, he had a natural talent for working with his hands and could fix just about anything. He had a passion for fast cars and motorcycles and enjoyed the thrill of the open road. Whether tackling a mechanical project or admiring a powerful engine, he found great satisfaction in craftsmanship, performance, and the simple joy of doing what he loved.
