Willard Shelby Barton

Willard Shelby Barton, 90, of Moultrie, died Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Sunrise Nursing Home.

          Private funeral services will be held at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Stanley Norman officiating.  Interment will be in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.   Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are recommended.

          Born September 22, 1930 in Moultrie, he was the son of the late Troy Barton, Sr. and Minnie Kelley Barton.  Mr. Barton retired from REA as a lineman and was associated with Sunnyland Meats and his last employment was with Jones Tractor Company.   He was a member of Northside Assembly of God Church and a deacon for many years.   Mr. Barton loved being on the farm and exhibited his strong work ethic as long as he was physically able. 

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Jeannette Matthews Barton, Martha Cone Matthews Barton; daughter, Glenda Sue Boyd; granddaughter Melissa Boyd Gillard; sister, Corrine Willoughby; brothers, Dennis Barton, Darrell Barton, Troy Barton.

          Survivors include his wife Jane Smith Barton of Thomasville; daughters Robbie Sloan and husband Larry of Moultrie; Volina McClain of Moultrie, Barbara Morris and husband, Royce of Blue Ridge, GA, Lequita Bennett of Deltona, FL; grandchildren Donnie Roberts and wife Ashley, Jessica Thomas and husband Michael, Donna Evert and husband Harry, Dee Taylor and husband Joe, Gayle Rose and husband Bill, Michael Morris and wife Mandy, Nancy East, Alton Cobb, Rebecca Lawrence, Derrick Cobb, Billy Boyd and wife Ginger; great grandchildren Trey Roberts, Mackenzie Roberts, Jeremy Thomas, Joshua Thomas, Christina Woods and husband Derrick, Misty Coffey and husband Peter, Christy Riley and husband Nolan. Amy Taylor, Stephanie Rose, Tiffany Crumbley and husband Matt, Amber Taylor and husband C.J., Cassidy Morris, Garrett Morris and wife Julia, Mia Morris, Britney Baxley, Justin Baxley, Caleb Cobb, Ashley Cobb, Alexis Cobb, Alyssa Cobb, Andrew Cobb, Dustin Kastelic, Heath Kastelic, Zachary Boyd, Jacob Boyd, Matthew Gillard and several great-great grandchildren; step-sons Todd Strickland, Kylie Strickland, Scott Strickland, Lewis Matthews; step daughters Elaine Barrett, Elizabeth Adams; brother Glenn Barton and wife Linda of Clermont, FL; sisters Faye Burnham and husband Darrell, Betty Hall, Elizabeth Barton all of Moultrie.
