Walter Franklin (Frank) Farmer, 96, peacefully passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021, in Fernandina Beach, FL. He was born in Worth County, Georgia, to David Monroe Farmer and Fannie Mae Mathews Farmer, born June 14, 1925, Flag Day.
Services will be at First Baptist Church of Moultrie, GA, on Monday, August 2. Visitation is at 10:00-10:45 with Service following at 11:00 at the church with the Reverend Wayne Woods officiating. Masonic Rites will be given at the end of the funeral service. Private Graveside will be in Sumner Cemetery later in the day. Cobb Funeral Chapel is in charge, with assistance from Oxley Heard in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
Frank graduated from Sumner High School in Sumner GA in 1942. He continued to enjoy reuniting with his classmates once a year. He loved the town and the people of Sumner and will be buried there next to his wife of 74 years, Edith Moree Farmer, at the Sumner Cemetery. He worked for the CSX Railroad for 43 years and retired in 1985 as Freight Agent in Brunswick, GA. Frank was saved at a young age at the First Baptist Church in Sylvester, GA. As they moved with the railroad he faithfully served as a devoted and active member of First Baptist Churches in Albany, Tifton, Brunswick, Moultrie and Fernandina Beach, FL. Frank joined the Free and Accepted Masons on September 26, 1946, in Sylvester, GA, and was recently presented with his 75-year apron and pin, which was a life achievement of his. Frank was a current member of the Brunswick GA Lodge and an honorary member of the Fernandina Beach FL Lodge. He was a long-time active member of York Rite, Scottish Rite, and Shrine. He also was a member of Eastern Star, Good Shepherd Conclave, and Knights of York Cross of Honor.
Frank had five siblings and was the last survivor of their family. Marvin Farmer, Minnie Wilson, Mae Powell, D.M. Farmer and Mildred McCorkle, all preceded him in death.
Frank and Edith’s children are Sharon F Quarterman (Jim); Walter F Farmer, Jr, now deceased; Fran F Hidden, and Thomas M Farmer (Missy). Beloved Grandchildren are Brian and Brent Quarterman, Tammie Farmer, and Mat Farmer. Great Grandchildren are Brayden and Ty Quarterman, Carsen and Kyle Quarterman, Cohen and Emerson Farmer.
