Virginia Sanders Smith

 Virginia Carol Sanders Smith, 85, of Doerun, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Julian Griner officiating.   Interment will be in Union Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Born September 15, 1936, in Evansville, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Florence Emily Shelby Sanders Linson and stepfather, Finley Adolph Linson.  Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.   

In addition to her mother and stepfather, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Smith; son, Gilbert Adolph Sanders; stepson Guyton Keith Smith; stepdaughters, Barbara Fay Smith, Gail Lynn Knapp; siblings, Dallas Chester Sanders, Alva Valley Sanders, Victoria Sanders, Juanita Zabran, Violet Corbin.

Survivors include her stepdaughter-in-law, Kathy Smith; stepdaughter, Patricia Ann Barks and husband Lynn; eight grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other family members.
