Born June 11, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Beatty Davis and Mamie Powers Davis.  Mrs. Horkan received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Georgia, where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority.  She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Moultrie.  She joyfully served in the Women of the Church and was named Woman of the Year in 1981.  Mrs. Horkan served as a deacon and elder, taught Sunday School, led Bible Study, was a youth leader, and remained active in the church by serving as a moderator and in other leadership capacities.  She loved genealogy and was on the board for the Moultrie Library and Odom Genealogy Library.  She served admirably in several organizations including Moultrie Jr. Woman’s Club, National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in Georgia, and the Jamestown Society.   Mrs. Horkan will always be remembered as strong and compassionate…a true southern lady.  She will truly be missed by many.
