Vida Mae Massey Burgess

Vida Mae Massey Burgess, 90, of Deatsville, AL, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Prattville Baptist Hospital in Prattville, AL.

          Graveside rites will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Zion Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Southerland and the Rev. James Burgess officiating.  Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are recommended.

          Born September 29, 1930 in Colquitt County, she was the daughter of the late Levi Nathan Massey and Vinabelle Elizabeth Fillyaw Massey.  Mrs. Burgess retired from Kmart as a salesclerk and was a member of Boone Chapel Baptist Church.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Watson Bennie Burgess; daughter, Karen Yvonne Fanning; brothers, William James Massey and Eugene Massey; sisters, Nora Tucker and Margaret Jones.

          Survivors include her sons, Stephen Lee Burgess and wife Jenny of San Antonio, TX, Christopher Alan Burgess and wife Dana of Montgomery, AL; daughters, Patricia Marcos and husband George of Clayton, NC, Elizabeth Regina Murry of Warner Robins, GA; twelve grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
