David Thomas "Tom" Boggs, Sr.

MOULTRIE, GA – David Thomas “Tom” Boggs, Sr., 88, of Moultrie, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Legacy Village at Park Regency. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 21, 2023, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Andy Cashwell officiating. Interment will be Andersonville National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45 AM Friday at Cobb Funeral Chapel. Born March 30, 1935, in Burlington, NC, he was the son of the late Doyle Thomas Boggs and Virginia Elise Garrett Boggs. Mr. Tom retired from the City of San Bernardino as an administrator and was a former member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Highland, CA and a current member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Moultrie. He graduated from Cal State University and the University of Illinois where he received a master’s degree from each school. Mr. Tom was a United States Army and United States USAF Veteran with over 22 years of dedicate service to his county. He loved the Lord and was a faithful servant, a loving husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sarah Alice Miller Boggs; brothers, Billy Boggs, Roger Boggs; special friend, Sandra Askew. Survivors include his children, Sherry Gurley and husband James of Durham, NC, David Thomas Boggs, Jr. and best friend Chris Chaney of Aliso Viejo, CA; grandchildren, Sarah Ponzi, Jeffery Lampson and wife Windy, Thomas “Tommy” Lampson and fiancé Elizabeth Presley; great-grandchildren, Clara Ponzi, Sofia Ponzi, Noah Lampson, Miles Lampson; sisters, Bonnie Edwards of Moultrie, Betty Wilson of Burlington, NC; several extended family members and friends.
