Thomas “Buddy” Griffin, 88, of Moultrie, passed away Friday, July 22, 2022, at Magnolia Manor.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, July 25, 2022, at Oak Grove Baptist Cemetery with Reverend Scott Toon officiating and Grandson Thomas Griffin speaking. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary one hour prior to the service.
Casketbearers will be Craig Harrell, Mark Harrell, Rob Cannon, Zach Griffin, Owen Harrell, and Thomas Griffin. Honorary casketbearers will be the Deacons of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Born April 5, 1934, in Colquitt County Georgia, he was the son of the late Archie Owen Griffin and Nettie Lou Hood Griffin. Mr. Griffin loved his family and serving the Lord. As a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon and taught Sunday School. Buddy adored his grandkids. He was full of knowledge, wisdom and had a quick wit about him. His faith was strong, and his love was deep for his beloved wife of 70 years. Buddy always spoke the truth.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Rev. J.B. Benefield, mother-in-law, Lorene Benefield and several extended family members.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Benefield Griffin; children, Peggy Harrell and Cecil, Debbie Cannon and Craig, Darrell Griffin and Kerry, Dwayne Griffin and Tina; grandchildren, Craig Harrell and Katina, Mark Harrell, Heather Richman and Andy, Rob Cannon and Logan, Thomas Griffin and Malone, Natalie Griffin, Olivia Griffin, Ryan Bass and Liz, Zach Griffin and Emily, and Garett Griffin; ten greatgrandchildren; siblings, Carolyn Clark and Joan Marshall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, 245 Oak Grove Baptist Church Road, Hartsfield, Georgia 31756.
