Doerun, Georgia – Stephen Lavon Thornburg, 49, of Doerun, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Albany, Georgia, surrounded by his family.

A memorial service is at 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Emerald Hill Baptist Church. The Reverend Shannon Partain will officiate. Private inurnment will take place at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 12:45 PM, Saturday at Emerald Hill Baptist Church.

Born February 2, 1977, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was a son of the late Martha Jane Plymel Lollar, and Leonard Lavon Thornburg, who survives.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, James Lollar; brothers, Christopher Lollar and David Lollar; grandparents, Louise and Howard Willis and Thelma Bragg Plymel and Troy Massey.

In addition to his father, survivors include his siblings, Leslie Johnson and husband, Shannon, Mary Vaughn and husband, Joe, Vickie Fender and husband, Ricky, and Glenda Kimbrell; uncle, Randall Willis and wife, Laurie; twelve nieces and nephews; four great-nieces and nephews; as well as numerous other extended family members and friends.

He enjoyed watching Westerns, listening to music and playing games. He never met a stranger and always spending time with his family and friends.
