Shirlie Sue Hurst

Moultrie, Georgia – Shirlie Sue Hurst, 73, of Moultrie, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at PruittHealth-Moultrie.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Cobb Funeral Chapel, with the Reverend Randall Kennedy and the Reverend Shannon Partain officiating. Private interment will follow at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service.

Born February 3, 1952, in Moultrie, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Johnnie Webster Rayburn and the late Cora Juanice Trammell Jones.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Paul Johnson; sisters, Alice Wright and Martha Fritts; brothers, Elmer Rayburn and Coy Rayburn.

Survivors include her husband, David Hurst; sons, Johnny Paul Johnson, Justin Matthew Johnson and Jesse Hutchinson Johnson; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Marilyn Bivins and husband, Billy Truett, Deborah Phillips and Tommy Rayburn; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.

She was a talented beautician, was of the Baptist faith, enjoyed reading, listening to Alan Jackson and most importantly, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
