Shirley Mims Griner

Shirley Mims Griner, 79, of Moultrie, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Autreyville Baptist Church in Moultrie, Georgia with interment to follow in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens. Reverend Dr. Robert McCoy will officiate the service. 

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, April 3, 2023, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Casketbearers will include Scotty Sinclair, Greg Mims, Keith Sinclair, Will Flowers, Chad Griner, and Nick Chastain.  Honorary casketbearers will include Junior Hood, William Hood, and Larry Hood.

Born October 9, 1943, in Moultrie, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Clarence “C.M” Mims and Sallie Elderidge Mims.  Mrs. Shirley loved her Lord and her family above all.  She loved to socialize with others and treated each person with the same respect.  She was a faithful member of Autreyville Baptist Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wallace Homer Griner; sisters, Lois Sinclair, Lavada Miller, Dorothy Hood, Ollie Williams; and brother, Donald Mims. 

Survivors include children, Rusty Griner and wife Sophie, Sally Yarbrough and husband Dale, all of Moultrie, Georgia; grandchildren, Taylor Marie Griner, Alexis Griner and fiancé Wheeler Hunnicutt, Lauren Yarbrough, and Karli Yarbrough; and a number of extended family members and friends.
