Sara Perez Van Der Wansem

MOULTRIE, GA – Sara Perez Van Der Wansem, 89, of Moultrie, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Colquitt Regional Senior Care and Rehabilitation.

Per her wishes, no formal services will be held at this time.

Born April 1, 1935, in Mexico City, Mexico, she was the daughter of the late Pablo Perez and Magdalena Hernandez. Miss Sara was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. She retired as Center Director from Kiddie Kastle III Migrant Head Start in Norman Park, Georgia. She will always be remembered as a kind, helpful, positive, creative and loving person who saw the best in everyone she met. Even when she was suffering herself, she was more concerned with the welfare of those around her. She truly loved everyone.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johannes J. Van Der Wansem; her son-in-law, Kevin L. Swords; and her siblings. 

Survivors include her daughters, Irma Swords and Barbie Starr; grandson, Brandon Swords; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
