Obituary

Services to honor and celebrate the lives of Roy G. Parker, 77, of Taunton, Massachusetts, formerly of Moultrie, Georgia, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 20, 2026, and his beloved wife, Sara Elaine Kirkley Parker, 59, of Webster, Massachusetts, also formerly of Moultrie, Georgia, who passed away on July 10, 2010, are 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Cobb Funeral Chapel. They will be inurned together at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Valor.

Roy G. Parker was born in Moultrie, Georgia on July 11, 1948, theloving son of the late Horace A. and the late Ida V. Cato Parker. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by a sister, Dwala Coleman. Roy grew up and was educated in Moultrie, Georgia, the town where he lived for most of his life.

During the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country for four years in the United States Air Force. Following four years of faithful service, he was honorably discharged on January 14, 1972, with the rank of Sergeant.

Prior to retiring, Mr. Parker was employed for twenty-seven years as an Engineer at the Marine Corps Logistics Base. He loved spending time with his adoring family, who equally loved him back. His hobbies included older and classic cars, being a NASCAR fan, times spent at the beach, listening to music, horses, target shooting and cheering on his favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves.

Sara Elaine was born August 10, 1950, in Moultrie, Georgia, to the late Earl F. Kirkley and the late Sara Harrell Kirkley Andrews.

She had been employed in Human Resources at Colquitt RegionalMedical Center and later at New England Art Publishers in Abington.She had taught CCD, enjoyed sewing and cooking.

Together, they are survived by children, Stephanie E. Samuelson, Michelle L. Goodwin, Rachel L. Mailloux, Jamie R. Jacobs andJudson J. Parker; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild. He is survived by siblings, Glenn Parker, Jerry Parker, Tony Parker, Rex Parker, Gail Giles, Sheila Parker and Cheryl Parker. She is survived by siblings, Earl Kirkley, Tina Stripling and Tracey Battaglia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.

Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
