Robert Hiram Burdette

August 19, 1941 — February 16, 2020

Robert Hiram Burdette, 78, of Moultrie, died Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Pruitt-Health Magnolia Manor.

          Funeral service will be held 11:00AM Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Matt Greene officiating.  A private interment will be in Midway Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

          The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

          Born August 9, 1941 in Fayette County Co., he was the son of the late Rev. Roy Burdette and Dorothy Williams Burdette.  Mr. Burdette was a United States Army Veteran and retired from Independent Life Insurance Company as an Insurance Agent.   In 1984 he moved to Abbeville, AL. where he served as a music director at Old Zion Baptist Church, later served at Concord Baptist Church and Oakey Grove Baptist Church until 2008.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Burdette.

          Survivors include his wife, Betty Sloan Burdette of Moultrie; son, Scott Burdette and wife Wanda of Moultrie; step-children, Mike Hampton and Charlene of Moultrie, Melisa Morrison and Mike of Conyers, GA; grandchildren, Michael Burdette, Amber Peek and husband Jared, Elizabeth Johnson and husband Brendan; four great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Walker and Leo of Tifton, GA, Beverly Cox and Bobby of Woodstock, GA; brother, Jimmy Burdette of Thomasville, GA; several nieces and nephews and other family members.

          In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
