Richard Burdette Durland

MOULTRIE, GA- Richard Burdette Durland, 93, of Moultrie, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Colquitt Regional Senior Care.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, March 16, 2026, in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Nick Dawson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 PM on Monday, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Born March 12, 1932, in Pleasant Hill, Illinois, he was the son of the late Sylvanus B. “S.B.” Durland and Laura Campbell Durland. Richard was a United States Air Force Veteran. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who loved his family dearly. You would often see Richard at the YMCA, working in his garden and tending to things around their yard. He was very talented and had a gift for building beautiful things from wood. Richard retired from US Department of Agriculture as a Construction Inspector.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rita Carmen.

Survivors include his loving wife of 72 years, Bernice Strange Durland of Moultrie; children, Debbie Jones and husband Chad, Donna Wise and husband Terry, Douglas Durland all of Moultrie, Diane Dopson and husband Rick of Yulee, FL, David Durland and wife Cathy of Albany; grandchildren, DeWayne Wise, Stevie Dopson and wife Casey, Sarah Peterson and husband Brandon, Casey Dopson and wife Raye, Lauren Jones, Caroline Lewis and husband Matt, Kate Durland; great-grandchildren, Travis Dopson, Aiden Dopson, Harley Dopson, Grayson Dopson, Brooks Peterson, Bo Peterson; several other extended family members and friends.

Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
