Moultrie, Georgia – The Reverend Larry Wade Sauls, age 85, of Moultrie, Georgia, peacefully passed away on October 2, 2025, at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia.

A service celebrating his life and ministry will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Cobb Funeral Chapel, with the Reverend Julian Griner officiating. Interment will follow at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 10:00 to 10:45 AM on Tuesday, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Born on September 26, 1940, in Moultrie, Reverend Sauls was the only child of Horace Monroe Sauls and Annie Bell Camp Sauls. A 1958 graduate of Moultrie High School, he honorably served his country in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1965.

Following his military service, Reverend Sauls discerned a calling to full-time ministry within the United Methodist Church. Affirming this divine vocation, he earned his degree from Emory University’s Candler School of Theology and was subsequently ordained as a United Methodist minister. Over the course of his distinguished career, he faithfully served congregations across the South Georgia Conference and the North Central District, including churches in Thomasville, Statenville, Fargo, Moultrie, Americus, Brunswick, Pembroke, Portal, Midville, Wadley, Rockledge, and Soperton. Reverend Sauls was a devoted servant of God, deeply committed to his faith, his church, and his family.

He is survived by his beloved children: Holly Sauls Rizzuto and her husband Peter, Julie Sauls Long, Timothy Sauls and his wife Stacy, and Caden Sauls and his wife Ashley. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Lane Salter and his wife Jessica, Madison Lynch and her husband Francis, Dominic Rizzuto, Francesca Rizzuto, and Vincent Rizzuto; as well as great-grandchildren: Elena Salter, Wade Sauls, Emery Lynch, Grant Jaime, Cohen Salter, and Cole Salter.

A proud member of the Grand Lodge of Georgia, Reverend Sauls was a committed Mason and a steadfast supporter of the Masonic Children’s Home of Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Masonic Children’s Home, P.O. Box 4183, Macon, Georgia 31208.

Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
