Raymond Buckner

HARTSFIELD, GA – Raymond Buckner, 88, of Hartsfield, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at his home.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Cobb Funeral Chapel. A private inurnment will be in Cool Springs Cemetery. 

Born March 10, 1936, in Hartsfield, Georgia, he was the son of the late Merdi Columbus Bucker and Elsie Emmaline Watson Buckner. Mr. Raymond was a self-employed auto mechanic and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed working on lawnmowers, old cars and going fishing. Mr. Raymond loved his family, his dogs, and going to flea markets. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Luke Buckner, Sr., Truman Buckner, Shorty Buckner, Joe Buckner, Mayella Greene, Ivella Flowers, son in law Edwin Merritt, and ex-wife Mable Buckner.   

Survivors include his children, Raymond Leon Buckner and wife Donna, Ima Jean Merritt all of Hartsfield; stepdaughter, Michelle Gomez Castaneda and husband Frankie, stepson Wayne Bullard; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Gene Buckner and wife Winifred, Phyllis Black and husband Bill; ex-wife Brenda Bullard several other extended family members and friends.

The family is receiving food and visitors at 481 Shorty B. Road Hartsfield, Ga. 31756.
