Peter John Somerindyke

Peter John Somerindyke, 78, of Moultrie, died Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Tift Regional Hospital.

          A celebration of life gathering will be held 10:00AM- 12:00PM Monday, September 14, 2020 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.  Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are recommended.

          Born November 4, 1941 in Roslyn, New York, he was the son of the late Irving Guy Somerindyke and Marjorie Livingston Somerindyke.  Mr. Somerindyke retired from the Great American Insurance Company as an agent and was of Episcopalian faith.   His family remembers how he loved sports of all kind, coached youth league basketball.  He was a life member and past president of the Elks Club, supporter of the Ga. Sheriff Youth Home, Boys Town and St. Jude’s Hospital.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Christine “Chris” Tyler Somerindyke; granddaughter, Allison McCardle; sister, Betsy Blanton.

          Survivors include his children, Charles Somerindyke of Atlanta, John Somerindyke of Norman Park, Kelvin M. Chitty, Karen McCardle both of Moultrie; grandchildren, Michael Chitty and Maria, Ashley Walden and Chad, Parker Somerindyke, Angela McCardle; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Judy Stock and Bob of Murphy NC; brother-in-law, Wayne Blanton of Baton Rouge LA.
