The family will receive visitors at Cobb Funeral Chapel on Thursday from 5 pm to 7 pm.

Norman was born July 6, 1950, to the late Dr. Ralph Corley Watson and Lillie Nadine Norman Watson of Moultrie, Georgia. Norman was a member of First Baptist Church Moultrie where he served for many years as a Deacon and Sunday School Director. He loved his church and any opportunity to share his faith. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, known affectionately as “Barn” to his grandchildren.

A 1968 graduate of Colquitt County High School, Norman went on to receive an associate degree from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College followed by a Bachelor of Animal Science degree and a Master of Animal Nutrition degree from the University of Georgia.

While attending ABAC, Norman met the love of his life, Vicky Moore Watson, and they were blessed with 51 years of marriage, two children and seven grandchildren.

Growing up on a farm, Norman always had a love for animals and agriculture. He pursued that interest in college and began his agribusiness career working in livestock feed sales from 1976 to 1984. From 1984 to 1996, he worked with Moultrie Farm Center managing a large hog operation before the swine industry faced a significant decline in South Georgia. He spent the remainder of his career with Sanders Well Drilling and Pump Service from 1996 to 2019. With a true servant heart, he could always be counted on to answer the call and help those in need any time of day.

Norman was a devout Christian and treasured his daily prayer and devotion time. He is certainly in his heavenly home and surrounded by the dozens of dogs that he has cared for during his time here on earth. Norman was also a lifelong cattleman. While at the University of Georgia, he resided in the Beef Barn and served as a herdsman. With fond memories of a childhood on a farm, he provided that same upbringing to his children and grandchildren and was most content when out checking on the cows each day.

Norman loved Colquitt County and whenever travel was required, he was always ready to get back home. He had a unique sense of humor and to be picked on by Norman was to be loved by him.

He is survived by his wife, Vicky Moore Watson, of Moultrie; son, Sam Watson (Emily) of Moultrie; daughter, Lea Anne Walters (Jamie) of Macon; grandchildren, Lily Watson, Lucy Watson, JD Walters, Watson Walters, Katie Rose Walters, Riley Moore Watson and Maddie Ruth Watson; brother Ralph Watson (Patty) of Charlotte, NC; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
