Norma Jean Fleetwood

Norma Jean Fleetwood, 84, of Moultrie, GA, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at her residence while surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Rev. Julian Griner officiating.  Interment will follow in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 at the chapel prior to the service. 

Casketbearers will include Greg Fleetwood, Jeff Fleetwood, Chris Turner, Major Nathan Wu, US Army, Corey Smith, and Bobby Stone.

Born on November 4, 1939, in Cook County, GA, she was the daughter of the late George W. Shannon, Sr. and Lucille Tidd Shannon.  She was known as a selfless, considerate, and compassionate lady who dedicated her life to caring for her family.  In her early years, she worked as a nurse before becoming a stay at home mother and wife.  Cooking, gardening, shopping, and traveling all over the country were favorite pastimes.  She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Leila “Lisa” Fleetwood Hill; brothers, George W. Shannon, Jr. and Raliegh Shannon; sisters, Leila Earl Shannon Lindsey and Virginia K. Shannon Carter.

Survivors include her loving husband, Billy Frank Fleetwood; son, Billy Shannon Fleetwood and wife Becky of Hartsfield, GA; grandchildren, Olivia Wu and husband Major Nathan Wu, US Army, Karly Ann Smith and husband Corey, Melanie Westbrook, and Tiffany Griffin; five great-grandchildren; son-in-law and surviving husband of Lisa, Allan Hill; and sister-in-law, Nell Shannon.
