MOULTRIE, GA – Myrtle Lea Biggles Summerlin, 94, of Moultrie, passed away Monday, May 20, 2024, at her home surrounded by loved ones.   

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Lakeside Assembly of God Church with the Reverend John Dougherty, Reverend Bobby Tatum, and Dr. Charles Travis officiating.  A Private entombment will be in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens. 

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, May 24, 2024, at Lakeside Assembly of God Church.  

Casketbearers will be her grandsons.  Honorary casketbearer will be Randy Jones.

Born November 2, 1929, in Lakeland, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late WA Biggles and Texas Crosby Biggles.    Mrs. Myrtle retired from Providence Church Ministries as the assistant director and was a faithful member of Lakeside Assembly of God Church.   She loved the Lord, her family, and was the image of a true southern lady, so humble and kind.  Mrs. Myrtle served in the ministry for over 73 years, standing along side her beloved husband as the perfect pastor’s wife.  Together they were able to establish over 300 churches through the Providence Church Ministries.   She enjoyed working in their yard and growing beautiful flowers.    

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy Ann Summerlin Dobbs; several brothers and sisters. 

Survivors include her beloved husband, Reverend Dr. Shelvie Summerlin, Sr.; children, Shelvie Summerlin, Jr. and wife Barbara, Dewey Scott Summerlin and wife Debra, Deborah Summerlin Sanders and husband Steve, John Summerlin and wife Terry; grandchildren, Ricky Summerlin and wife Stephanie, Keith Summerlin and wife Jayna, Jason Dobbs, Joshua Dobbs, Jeff Summerlin, Ashley Summerlin and wife Lindsay, Kristie Clason and husband Marty, Mike Sanders and wife Rebekah, Jonathan Summerlin and wife Krysta, Andrew Summerlin and wife Beckie, Justin Summerlin; eighteen great-grandchildren; along with several other extended family members and friends. 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
