Mounira "Nina" Freije Chammoun

HARTSFIELD, GA – Mounira “Nina” Freije Chammoun, 91, of Hartsfield, GA, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at home with her precious family by her side.

Graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.  The family will greet friends at graveside following the service.

Casketbearers will include Bud Smallwood, Eli Hayek, Eddie Jackson, Stephen Chammoun, Chris Chammoun, Nick Chammoun, Marcelino Andres, Doug Demott, and Whit Linnenkohl.  Tim Clark will serve as an honorary casketbearer. 

Born September 2, 1932, in Lebanon, she was the daughter of the late Nageeb George Freije and Wadiha Allum Freije.  Mrs. Chammoun was a bright ray of sunshine for all who knew her, as her cheery personality was invigorating and contagious.  She loved her children and family selflessly.  Being a very resourceful lady at the young age of 19, she was able to adapt to a new life in America.  Knitting was a favorite pastime, and she was known as a master seamstress.  She was a member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Albany, GA and has always been faithful to her religion.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Nazih Chammoun; siblings, Louise Chammoun and Fred Freije. 

Survivors include her children, Michael Chammoun, Lila Clark and husband Tim, Lorraine Smallwood and husband Bud, and Denise Linnenkohl; sister, Nagabe Freije; grandchildren, Stephen Chammoun, Nicholas Chammoun, Christopher Chammoun, Eli Hayek, Marilyn Wicker, and Meaghan Andres; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
