Morris David Baker

TIFTON, GA – Morris David Baker, 73, of Tifton, passed away Friday, December 2, 2022, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 4, 2022, at Cobb Funeral Chapel in Moultrie, Georgia with the Reverend Joseph Crumley and the Reverend Kevin Dawson officiating.   Interment will be at Omega Cemetery in Omega, Georgia.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45PM Sunday at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Born November 10, 1949, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was the son of the late John Thomas Baker and Vera Pauline Flowers Baker.  Mr. Morris was a United States Navy Veteran.  He retired from the State of Georgia as a State Fire Marshall and was a member of Tift Avenue Church of God.   He loved his family, his church family and cherished each moment he spent with all of them.   Mr. Morris enjoyed woodworking, fishing, singing, traveling, reading on his front porch, and tending to his rental properties.    He was a member of the Men and Women of Action Team who helped churches in need.   He will always be remembered as a caring man who enjoyed meeting new people and could always brighten someone’s day by making them laugh.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Sue Deen Baker of Tifton, Georgia; children, Cynthia Sue Baker Gillis and Dwayne of Soperton, Georgia, Selena Lynn Baker Johns and Joshua of Tifton, Georgia; grandchildren, Sara Faith Johns, Ellie Claire Johns, Gracie Leigh Johns, Jenna Rebecca McLean and fiancé Jon Kapfer; great-grandchildren, Timmy McLean, Andy McLean, Lilly McLean; siblings, Linda Baker Cobb Hiers and Hilton, Lee Thomas “Buddy” Baker all of Moultrie, Georgia.
