Masako Shirai Gay, 84, of Tallahassee, formerly of Moultrie, died Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the Tapestry Senior Living Center-Walden in Tallahassee.

          Graveside rites will be held 11:00AM Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Robert McCoy officiating.  Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are recommended.

          Born May 23, 1936 in Chiba-Ken Japan, she was the daughter of the late Hisakichi Shirai and Tomi Shirai.  Mrs. Gay was a homemaker and was a member of Autreyville Baptist Church.  Mrs. Gay was proud to become a naturalized citizen in 1964.  Her family remembers how she enjoyed cooking and baking and was known for her chocolate chip cookies.  She was a very loving and giving person and was certified in Japanese Flower arrangements.   Mrs. Gay was an artist and enjoyed ceramics and was a former tambourine player in the Magnolia Manor Band in Moultrie.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rufus Gay; sister, Yoshiko Shirai.

          Survivors include her children, Rhonda Revell and husband Ken of Tallahassee, FL; Ronald Gay and wife Christine of Henderson, NV; grandchildren, Cory Blake Griffin and wife C.J., Kurt Vance Griffin, Rachel Turpen; great-grandchildren, Braden Griffin.

          Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, GA Chapter, 225 2nd Street East, Tifton, GA. 31794.
