Mary Ruth Pitts

Moultrie, Georgia – Mary Ruth Bailey Pitts, 98, of Moultrie, Georgia, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at PruittHealth-Moultrie.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church, with the Reverend Charlie Tucker officiating. Private family interment will be at Horne Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 PM, Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the church.

Casketbearers will be Jason Thaggard, Zed Thaggard, Trey Pitts and Sam Pitts.

Born November 19, 1927, in Rome, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late George Leonard Bailey and the late Mary Willis Bailey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren M. Pitts; infant daughter, Nancy Leigh Pitts; sister, Dorothy Lovell; brothers, Herschel Bailey and Herbert Bailey.

She graduated from Armuchee High School and later in life, graduated from Moultrie Vo-Tech, with a degree in nursing. She retired from Colquitt Regional Medical Center. A faithful member at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church, she enjoyed working in her yard, reading and doing word search puzzles.

Survivors include her children, Rosemary Thaggard and husband, Dickey, Dr. Marc Pitts and wife, Nicole, Ben Pitts and wife, Marcia; grandchildren, Jason Thaggard and wife, Lisa, Trey Pitts, Zed Thaggard and wife, Gina, Dr. Sam Pitts and wife, Brooke; great-grandchildren Jackson Thaggard, Adalyn Downs, Warren Pitts, Harper Pitts, Chandler Pitts, Andi Pitts, Anna Ruth Pitts, Casey Pitts, Micki Pitts and Tucker Pitts; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rose of Sharon Baptist Church or to a charity of your choosing.
