Mary Lane Stephenson, 74, peacefully entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.
Funeral service will be held 11:00AM Saturday, December 5, 2020, at New Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Kinsaul and Rev. Dion Brown officiating. Interment will follow at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at New Bethel. Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are recommended.
Born December 12, 1945, in Moultrie, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Rufus Lester Lane, Jr. and the late Audrey Juanita Smith Lane. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Roger Phillip Stephenson. Mary and her family were long-standing members of New Bethel Baptist Church in Meigs, Georgia. She was a big-hearted, creative, hardworking Christian mother who cared for her family with selfless love. She loved arts and crafts, loved Colquitt County Packers, and enjoyed all opportunities to visit the Great Smoky Mountains. Mrs. Stephenson was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
The following men will serve as casketbearers: Steve Sheffield, Mike Sheffield, Scott Tillman, Amos Presley, Leslie Moore, and Mike Stephenson. Ed Autrey, Shawn Sutton, and Shannon Fleetwood will serve as honorary casketbearers.
Survivors include her two daughters, Marsha Meadows and husband Stan of Hartsfield, Pamela Stephenson Whittaker and husband Andy of Hartsfield; brother Rufus Leo Lane of Moultrie; sisters, Gay Lynn Sheffield and husband Mark of Albany, Becky Potts and husband Freddie of Moultrie; special nieces Nicole West and wife Sarah of Valdosta, Meghan West Coleman and husband Todd of Columbia, S. C. along with a host of sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family is extremely grateful for the care provided by Annie Ludden and Colquitt Regional Hospice providers.
Flowers are appreciated, and memorials may be made to Colquitt Regional Hospice (P. O. Box 3548, Moultrie, GA 31776).
