Mary was born in Jesup, Georgia on February 03, 1934, to Rev. John J. Floyd & Sula Hesters Floyd. Her father moved the family to Moultrie in 1950 to pastor the Moultrie Church of God. Here she met her lifelong love, Robert, and was married for 49 years. She worked for Bell-Kennon Tractor Company as a bookkeeper/secretary for 52 years. Later, she worked for 9 years at Southwest Georgia Community Action Council.
Almost 4 years ago, she moved to Mt. Airy to live with Grady, her son, and daughter-in-law, Lisa. She joined Clarkesville Baptist Church. Mary loved her church family and quickly became an active member until her sudden illness. She had a great love for welcoming people to become a part of the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert Walden, Sr.; her parents, Rev. John J. Floyd & Sula Hesters Floyd; stepmother, Mae Harkins Floyd; sister, Doris (Marvin) Strickland; and brothers, Nathan (Ginny) Floyd & Darius Floyd.
Mary is survived by her son, Grady (Lisa) Walden of Mt. Airy, GA; daughter, Ella (Dennis) Fast of Sapulpa, OK; grandchildren, Brian Walden of Toccoa, GA; Aaron (Ashley) Walden of Cornelia, GA; Caleb Walden of Kyle, SD; brother, David Floyd of Leesburg, GA; sister-in-law, Virginia Flowers Floyd of Jesup, GA; and several nieces & nephews that she loved dearly.
A special thank you to the staff of Habersham Home West & Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center. “Their care and attention to Mary made our journey of life so much greater.”
