Marjorie (Susie) Carol Knox

HARTSFIELD, GA - Marjorie Carol Sellers Knox, known to all as “Susie,” won her long and courageous battle with health challenges as she transitioned to her heavenly home on Monday, March 9, 2026. Surrounded by the comfort of home, she passed away peacefully at her residence in Hartsfield.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Reverend Julian Griner officiating. A private interment will follow. The family will receive friends at Cobb Funeral Chapel from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM on Friday prior to the service, where loved ones and friends may gather to honor and remember Susie’s life.

Casketbearers will include Jason Clark, Glen Clark, Brett Bennett, Frank Walker, and Doug Alligood.

Born on December 24, 1952, in Moultrie, Georgia, Susie was the cherished daughter of the late Wylie Senous Sellers and Sadie Belle Allegood Sellers. She grew into a woman known for her warm heart, joyful spirit, and deep love for her family and friends. Susie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and loyal friend whose life was defined by kindness, generosity, and a genuine care for others.

Her husband of 54 years fell in love with her contagiously jolly spirit, her bright and welcoming smile, and her remarkable ability to love deeply and unconditionally. Even during her most recent and very difficult hospital stays, the nurses and caregivers who attended to her often commented on her gracious, cheerful attitude and the kindness she extended to everyone around her. Susie rarely missed an opportunity to brighten someone’s day with a smile, a kind word, or a thoughtful gesture.

Susie was an exceptional and dedicated elementary teacher who helped shape and nurture the lives of many young children throughout her career. She taught Pre-K and Kindergarten at Sunset Elementary School, where her patience, creativity, and gentle encouragement made a lasting impact on countless students and their families.

She had a special appreciation for beauty in everyday life and enjoyed surrounding herself with “pretty things” when she was physically able - pretty flowers blooming around her home, pretty sewing projects carefully crafted by hand, and pretty decorations that made her home warm and welcoming. Susie also found great joy in preparing meals for her family and friends, lovingly bringing people together around her table through the years.

Football and baseball games brought her great excitement and were often highlights of her days as she enthusiastically cheered on the Colquitt County Packers, the Georgia Bulldogs, and the Atlanta Braves. Susie was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Moultrie and remained devoted to her church family, faithfully watching the online services when her health no longer allowed her to attend in person.

In addition to her parents, Susie was preceded in death by her sister, Vickie Sellers Spangler.

Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband, James Q. Knox, known to all as “Punk”; her children, Jessica Lynn Knox of Hartsfield and Dr. James Bradley Knox and his wife, Laura, of Cochran, Georgia; three grandchildren whom she loved dearly and treasured deeply, Nathan Knox, Joshua Knox, and Korie Mae Knox; and cuddly grand-furbaby Gunner. She is also survived by her siblings, Don Sellers of South Carolina; Regina Goodwin and her husband Rich of Summerville, South Carolina; Denny Sellers and his wife Kayla of Hartsfield, Georgia; and Ben Sellers and his wife Marie of Leesburg, Georgia, along with numerous extended family members, lifelong friends, and many others whose lives were touched by her kindness and warmth.

Susie’s life was a beautiful reflection of love, kindness, and faith, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.
