Lynn Loran Jones

MOULTRIE, GA – Lynn Loran Jones, 86, of Moultrie, GA passed away Friday, June 11, 2021, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 14, 2021, at Funston Baptist Church with Reverend Ron Shiver officiating.  Interment will follow in Funston Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Sunday evening at Cobb Funeral Chapel. 

Born June 30, 1934, in Bridgeboro, GA, he was the son of the late Boyd Lane Jones and Blanche Jenkins Jones.  After moving to Colquitt County at age six, he grew up in the masonry business, became a master mason at the age of 19, and then owned and operated a successful masonry business for 30 years. In 1970, he founded Jones Pool Company which became the most reputable gunite swimming pool business in Georgia for a span of 25 years. He was the co-owner of JCI Contractors.  He also owned and operated Craftwood Farms, a successful commercial pecan farming operation. Lynn held several leadership roles through the years:  Chairman of ABC Bank Board for ten years, Board of Directors of Pineland School, and member of Georgia Pecan Growers Association where he was recently awarded the Jack Thompson Award.  Throughout his career, he has demanded superior quality workmanship along with absolute owner satisfaction. Work was Lynn’s hobby, and it never seemed like a job because he loved it so much.  A passion for quality and integrity has been the foundation of everything, and others often reached out for his experienced and seasoned council. Mr. Jones was a faithful member and deacon of Funston Baptist Church.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and was a well-respected pillar of the community.  He enjoyed hunting, deep sea fishing, and spending time at Lake Nantahala in North Carolina. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his seven siblings: Boyd Lane Jones, Jr., Mildred Jones Hobbs, Nell Jones Stripling, Thomas S. Jones, Joy Jones Cone, Nan Jones Coffee, and twin brother Ben Oran Jones. 

Survivors include his wife of almost 65 years-the absolute love of his life, Barbara Bell Jones; children, Gina Jones Moses and husband Billy of Dublin, GA, Jill Jones Doyle and husband Joe of Ponte Vedra, Fla, Lynn Loran (Lyndy) Jones, Jr. and wife Kelly of Moultrie, Amy Jones Gay and husband Bent of Dublin, GA;  grandchildren, Paige Moses Smalley and husband Will, Claire Moses Drummond and husband Justin, Maggie Moses Kelley and husband Walter, William Moses, Nick Doyle, Ellie Doyle Baumer and husband Max, Lynn (Trey) Jones, III and wife Leah, Braxton Jones, Jud Jones, Katherine Jones, Amelia Gay, J. B. Gay, Carly Gay; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of special nieces and nephews.
