Lucile Betty Young Murphy

Lucile Betty Young Murphy, 90, of LaGrange, formerly of Moultrie, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021 at West Georgia Hospice in LaGrange, GA.

          A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Jeter officiating.  Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are recommended.  

          Casketbearers will be Ronnie Young, Richard Nash, Rex Green, Phil Flanagan, David Guy and Todd Keeble.

          Born July 24, 1930 in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late Charlie D. Young and Della Corey Young.  Mrs. Murphy retired from Colquitt Regional Medical Center as a Certified Nursing Assistant.  She loved her family, enjoyed working in her flower garden, cooking, and was well known for her fried chicken.   Mrs. Murphy loved being a nurse and caring for her patients.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Billy E. Murphy; son, Donald E. Murphy; several brothers and sisters.

          Survivors include her children, Brenda Jeter and husband Rev. Tommy of LaGrange, GA, Danny Murphy and wife Gina of Norman Park; grandchildren, Tammy Keeble and Todd, Rex Green, Haley Murphy, Danny A. Murphy and wife Sara; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Flanagan and husband Phil, Trevor Keeble, Chelcie Guy and husband David, Liam Murphy and Dawson Murphy; great-great-grandchild, Millie Flanagan; brother, Ronnie Young; sisters, Linda Strickland and husband Alan, Faye Patterson and Laurie Austin.
