Ochlocknee, GA – Linda Jean West Loyd, 79, of Ochlocknee, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Legacy Village at Plantation Manor, Thomasville, Georgia, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Zion Grove Assembly of God Church in Meigs, Georgia, with the Reverend Jimmy West and the Reverend Tony Morris officiating. Interment will be at Zion Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Friday, June 20, 2025, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
Casketbearers will be Parker Hardigree, J.T. Rice, Greg Stahl-Loyd, Jason Scites, Kevin West and James West.
Born July 1, 1945, in Mitchell County, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late James Lenwood West and Grace Ophelia Glover West.
She worked for 48 years for the Social Security Administration as a Claims Administrator. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and any children she met. She was a member of Zion Grove Assembly of God, where she faithfully taught Sunday School for over 50 years and always had an unwavering faith.
Following her retirement from the Social Security Administration, she became a mentor at Hamilton Elementary School. She was a big Elvis Presley fan, drove a racecar in her earlier years and was referred to by her father as the “biggest little woman.”
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James Carlton Loyd; sister, Judy West; brother, Steve Watts; and stepmother, Doshia Odom West.
Survivors include her children, Jamie Loyd and wife Summer, Amy Hardigree and husband Travis, Joni Rice and husband Weasel, Jody Loyd and wife Amber; grandchildren, Leah, Skylar, Charleigh, Parker (Kate), Kari Lyn, Unicka (Dakoda), J.T., Greg and Nora Jean; five great-grandchildren; siblings, James Aaron West and wife Dorothy Faye, Donnie M. West and wife Brenda, James Lenwood “Jim” West, Jr. and wife Tamie; sister-in-law, Cherie Avery and husband Phil; nephew, Jason Scites; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and other extended family.
The family expresses their heartfelt appreciation to the Harbor at Legacy Village for all the love and care shown during Granny Jean’s stay.
