Lena Gay Rizer

Hartsfield, Georgia – Lena Gay Rizer, 90, of Hartsfield, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, while surrounded by her family.

A private family service will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born September 28, 1934, in Colquitt County, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late James Emory Cox and Avie Alligood Cox.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Henry Levell Gay and Hugh Hill Rizer; son; Jeffery Gay; siblings, Juanita Cox, William Cox, Joe Cox, Pete Cox, Jimmy Cox, Jerry Cox, Jack Cox and Lenda Cox Todt.

She was a dedicated member at Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was a talented seamstress and childcare provider, helping raise many children in the Colquitt County community. Later she became a typesetter with Ennis Business Forms. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, watching game shows and was everyone’s mother.

Survivors include her children, Wayne Gay and wife, Miriam, LaDon Gay and wife, Renee, Sherri Feinstein and husband, Fred and Christie Banks; grandchildren, Britini Bullard and husband, Paul, Brandon Gay and fiancé, Laura Tucker, Kimberly Wingo and husband, Justin, Jeffrey Feinstein and fiancé, Carolina Barraque, Dr. Samantha Feinstein and Landon Bland; great-grandchildren, Hayden Bullard, Hudson Bullard, Lena Grace Bullard, Flint Gay, Mason Spradlin, Avie Spradlin, Colt Wingo, Remington Wingo, Jacob Bibeault and Jolie Bibeault; siblings, Barbara Bass and husband, Hubert, Edna Williams and husband, Idus, Glenda Coalson and Julius Cox; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Oak Grove Baptist Church or to Colquitt Regional Hospice.

Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
