Laurie Young Austin

THOMASVILLE, GA – Laurie Young Austin, 89, formerly of Meigs, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Southern Pines Assistant Living in Thomasville.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Pelham, GA with the Reverend Alton Harper officiating.

Born June 4, 1933, in Omega, GA, she was the daughter of the late Charlie D. Young and Della Corey Young.  Mrs. Laurie was a homemaker and a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Pelham GA.   She loved her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Laurie was a wonderful wife, mother and nana who enjoyed cooking, mowing grass and gardening.   She was a talented quilter and crocheter.   

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Austin; granddaughter, Jessica Bullock; son-in-law, David Thursby; siblings, Pleas Young, J.C. Young, Paul Young, Louise Wiley, Lavera Griffin, Lorene Benefield, Leda Freeman, Sarah Zeligman, Lucille Murphy, and Bobby Young.

Survivors include her daughters, Kay Turner and husband AL of Thomasville, Susan Thursby of Cairo; grandchildren, Hope Whiddon and Todd E., Stephen Rackley and Briana, Lisa Radley and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Zoe Radley, Parker Radley, Declan Rackley; siblings, Ronnie L. Young, Linda Strickland and Alan, Faye Patterson all of Moultrie.
