Born October 14, 1933, in Tift County, Georgia, he was the son of I.J. and Mittie Kate Sizemore Stephenson.  Mr. Stephenson was retired from a lifetime of farming, which he dearly loved.  He farmed for a long time with his father and brother, Roger, before they both passed away.  In school he was an active member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA).  He attended the FFA National convention in Kansas City, Missouri, where he earned the highest honor FFA offered.  Mr. Stephenson enjoyed visiting and talking with friends and regaling tales of yesterday.  He also enjoyed singing with a quartet in FFA, and they even talked him into singing a solo of the song “Long Gone Lonesome Blues” at the State Convention.  After his performance they all cheered and asked him to sing another song, which he did to claps and cheers.   He was a family man and enjoyed all the many get togethers the family held.  Mr. Stephenson will be deeply missed by his family and will be reunited in heaven with his first wife of 30 years, Bonnie.  The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the nurses and doctors at Colquitt Regional Medical Center who took such good care of him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie Presley Stephenson; brothers and sisters-in-law, John Stephenson and wife Faye, Roger Stephenson and wife Mary; sister and brother-in-law, Doris Sumner and husband Jim.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Anna Wyatt Stephenson of Meigs; children, Karen Coffee and husband Bruce of Thomasville, GA, Janet Toler and husband Steve of Moultrie, GA, Becky Fleetwood and husband Shannon of Hartsfield, GA, Denise Edwards and husband Steve of Gainesville, GA, Lynda Luke Young of Meigs, GA, Bruce Luke and wife Kimberly of Hartsfield, GA; grandchildren, Stephen Coffee and wife Jenna, Caroline Spence and husband Jonathan, Matt Barlow, Clint Barlow, Melanie Westbrook, Tiffany Griffin, Abbi Jones and husband Cody, Ryan Edwards, and Faith Luke; twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Claudia Stephenson Presley and husband Jack of Meigs, GA; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members and friends.
