Larry James Pettyjohn

MOULTRIE, GA - Larry James Pettyjohn, 77 of Moultrie, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Billy Wilkes officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-1:45 PM Wednesday at Cobb Funeral Chapel. Casketbearers will be Scott Benton, Joshua Brumley, Hunter Benton, Terry Thornton, Alisha O’Grady, Julie Pettyjohn, and Emily Pettyjohn. Born October 31, 1945 in Colquitt County, Georgia, he was the son of the late James Willie Pettyjohn and Mildred Leola Howard Pettyjohn. Mr. Larry was a United States Army Veteran. He retired as a self-employed carpenter and was of the Baptist faith. He loved his family dearly and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and piddling on things. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Touchton Pettyjohn; brother, Jerome Scott Pettyjohn. Survivors includes his children, Michaela Robinson of Richmond, VA, Tonia Brumley, Angela O’Grady both of Moultrie, GA, Larry “Jamie” Pettyjohn II and wife Nancy of Hartsfield, GA; grandchildren, Hunter Benton and wife Sheyenne, Joshua Brumley, Julie Pettyjohn, Emily Pettyjohn, Alisha O’Grady, Garry Byrd, Dion Byrd, Michael Byrd, Melody Robinson, Johnathan Robinson, Autumn Golden Bryant and husband Dwight; great-grandchildren, Azriel Byrd, Alaina Byrd, Sincery Byrd, Amelia Rose Benton, Alessa Kastelic, Emmett Kastelic, Maelynn Bryant; sisters, MerryAnne Brazel, Connie Thornton and husband Terry sister-in-law, Gay Lynn Pettyjohn; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends.
