Obituary

Kay F. Crain, known lovingly as Kay, passed away on July 9, 2026, at EAMC Lanier Nursing Home. She was born on March 3, 1941, in Colquitt County, Georgia, and lived a life marked by faith, devotion, and quiet strength.

Kay was a graduate of LaGrange College and went on to work as a paralegal for many years, a career she truly loved. She was intelligent, thoughtful, and dependable, and those qualities were reflected in both her work and the way she cared for others. Kay approached life with grace and determination, and she earned the respect of all who knew her through her steady presence and kind spirit.

Above all else, Kay was a fantastic mother who raised three boys by herself. Her sons, David Lamar Powers and his wife Lisa, Jeffrey Frank Crain, and Bruce Wiley Crain, were the pride of her life. She loved her family deeply and found great joy in being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense happiness and many cherished memories. Kay is also survived by her brother, Gene Tucker of Tallahassee, Florida; her sisters, Marlene Tucker Presley and her husband Darrell, and Linda Tucker Gay and her husband Darrell; and her sister-in-law, Virginia McCracken Tucker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley Franklin Tucker and Willie Mae Sellers Tucker; her brothers, Wiley F. Tucker, Jr. and Calvin Tucker; and her sisters, Dorothy Tucker Dickens and Mary Tucker Murphy. Her family was an important part of her life, and she treasured the bonds she shared with them throughout the years.

Kay was a Christian and a member of Lanett Church of the Nazarene, where her faith was evident to all who knew her. She had a very deep faith and was known to pray, offering comfort and encouragement through her steadfast belief in God. Her spiritual life was a guiding force, and she lived with a heart that reflected compassion, humility, and trust in the Lord.

In her younger years, Kay enjoyed sports and was active in tennis and volleyball. She loved all sports and remained an avid Florida State football fan throughout her life. She also had a very green thumb and took great pride in caring for plants and watching them grow. These interests brought her joy and reflected the vibrant, nurturing nature that defined her.

Kay will be remembered for her loving heart, her intelligence, and her thoughtful nature. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and perseverance that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her life was a blessing to many, and her memory will be cherished always.
