Lavern was a faithful member of Zion Grove Assembly of God in Meigs, Georgia. Her love of Jesus Christ was closely matched by her diligent study of His Word and her commitment that she would raise her children to fear and love the Lord as well.
She was a traditional southern woman at her core, an avid rider, lover of horses, and a true artist. She crocheted, captured the world around her with her paintings, was a professional cake decorator, and her “Old-Fashioned Tea Cakes” will never be forgotten. Above all else, Lavern would want you to know that Jesus loves you; so we share her recipe with you, rejoicing in the victory of Christ and knowing full well that because He lives so does she!
Lavern Hall’s Old-Fashioned Tea Cakes
2 sticks butter, softened, 2-1/2 cups sugar, 3 eggs, 1 tsp. Vanilla, 5 lbs. Self-Rising Flour
Cream together sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla.
Put the flour in a large container and make a well. Pour the creamed mixture into the well and start working in the flour like making biscuits. Roll out the dough a little at the time and cut out the cookies. Take left-over dough and mix in with the new dough. Roll out and cut again. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes or until the cookies are light brown.
Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
