Julian Earl Martin

Moultrie, GA – Julian Earl Martin, 85, of Moultrie, passed away Monday, November 16, 2020, at his residence while surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services with military rites will be 11:00 AM Thursday, November 19, 2020, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Dr. David Benton officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.  Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are recommended. 

Casketbearers include Brandon Mercer, Braxton Mercer, Victor Martin, Daniel Lawson, Ashley Cook, Freddie Ferrell, Taylor Martin, Colby Martin, Jonah Martin, Heath Martin, and Ryan Hembree. 

Born May 10, 1935, in Cook County, GA, he was the son of the late Earl Willis Martin and Myrtle Ruby Kent Martin.  He loved being with his family and enjoyed outside activities such as fishing, tinkering on machinery, and operating heavy equipment.  Mr. Martin was a veteran, having served as a Corporal Infantry Specialist in the U. S. Army.  He was stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma from 1954 to 1956 and then served in the Army Reserve for six years.  He was an honored recipient of the Good Conduct Medal and Sharpshooter Medal. 

Survivors include his wife, Shirley McLendon Martin; children, Cathy Perdue and husband Marc of Lake Park, GA, Carl Willis Martin and wife Debbie of Sparks, GA, Connie Martin Mercer and husband Chuck of Moultrie, Craig Lynn Martin and wife Dawn of Moultrie; grandchildren, Kimberly Jenkinson Spencer and husband Everett, Christa Martin, Marie Griffin and husband Leroy, Willis Martin and wife Angel, Braxton Mercer and wife Erin, Brandon Mercer and wife Ally, Lauren Mercer Hembree and husband Ryan, Shanna Martin, Colby Martin, Heath Martin, Jonah Martin, Taylor Martin, Madison Martin; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Nell Weeks Warren of Cool Springs and Carolyn Martin of Quitman.  

In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his brother Jackie Terrell Martin.
