Born March 6, 1932, Joe was the son of the late James Henry Clark and Minnie Lee Studstill Clark.  Mr. Clark was a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force.  Joe was a well-respected and greatly loved southern gentleman who graciously served people in Colquitt County and throughout the state of Georgia.  He never met a stranger, as he absolutely loved being with people.  He was a lifelong member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, church treasurer, Sunday School teacher, song leader, and softball coach, as well as other leadership positions in the church. In addition, he served as the Baptist Men’s Director and moderator of the Colquitt Baptist Association.  Joe’s outstanding capacity as a leader extended far past church as he was the president of Farm Bureau, state president of Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCOG) and was the Chairman of the Colquitt County Commissioners for thirteen years.  Joe was the president of BVC Distributing, serving the agribusiness community.  Pursuing a joint vision with friends Roy Strange and Dick Traylor, Joe was instrumental in forming the “Hogeye City Merchants” in 1978.  One of Joe’s favorite avenues of service was his tenure at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his infant sons, Guy Clark, Gary Wayne Clark, and Jerry Lynn Clark; brothers Lee Clark, Johnie Clark, and Julian Clark; and sister-in-law Dorothy Barlow Clark.
