Johnny Wayne Horton, 64, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
Born May 19, 1961, in Moultrie, Georgia to the late Lonnie H. Horton and Cynthia Knight Horton, Johnny faced profound disabilities from birth with remarkable grace and a quiet courage that inspired all who knew him.
He is survived by his sister, LeAnn Gilliam (and husband, Aaron) of Iron Mountain, Michigan; his step-mother of 47 years, Carrie Horton, of Lenox, Georgia; his aunt, Helen Chafin (and husband, Mark) of Valdosta, Georgia; his nieces, Sidney Horton and Sophia Gilliam; and his nephews, Tristan Davis and Garrett Gilliam; stepbrothers, Ricky Pafford and Terry Pafford (wife Rita); cousin, Sandra Overman (and husband, Ken.)
Though his challenges limited many conventional paths, Johnny's life overflowed with purpose and joy. He was a proud graduate of Colquitt County High School.
Johnny loved to get dressed up and attend Church. He carried his Christian faith gently, reflecting it through his kindness, gentle spirit and unwavering love for others.
Johnny found delight in life's simplest blessings: sharing a meal, watching his favorite shows, and offering help whenever he could- especially beside his beloved Daddy on the farm, or working in his shop.
To know Johnny was to know a heart of gold. He had a radiant warmth and a sweet sense of humor, cherished his family deeply, and became a profoundly special brother whose presence was a gift.
Those who loved him will forever remember his laughter, his eagerness to lend a hand, and the pure love he gave without reservation.
Though our hearts ache, we take comfort knowing Johnny is now healed and reunited with his parents and grandparents that he missed deeply. He is whole in body and spirit, and is now resting in the arms of his Savior.
He will be laid to rest at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens on Thursday, July 24, 2025.
Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
