Johnnie Darrell Hood

Moultrie, Georgia – Johnnie Darrell Hood, 85, of Moultrie, Georgia, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, December 15, 2025, at Hopewell Baptist Church with the Reverend Josh Purvis officiating. Private interment will be at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 PM, Monday, at the church.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.

Born June 18, 1940, in Alma, Georgia, he was a son of the late Albert Lee Hood and the late Alice Tanner Hood.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Inez Darby Hood; grandchildren, Jessica Lamon, Jaci Miller and Aiden Hobgood; sisters, Lettie Claudine Hood Welch and Mary Hood.

Since 1972, he was a faithful member of Hopewell Baptist Church, where he also served as a Deacon. He was a manager for several grocery stores and later retired from Wal-Mart. He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and tending to his fruit trees.

Survivors include his daughters, Debra Lamon and husband, Clyde, Janet Stephens and husband, Jerry and Lisa Rentz and husband, Wayne; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Betty Jarrard, Jerald Hood and wife, Nancy, Florence Ballard and husband, Larry, Frances Crawford and Martha Warren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to either Hopewell Baptist Church or to a charity of your choosing.
