Born July 7, 1941, in Olney Springs, CO, he was the son of the late Wilfred F. Newland and Rose Prutch Newland. John was a Veteran who served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was an excellent mechanic who could fix anything. John was a people person who was willing to help anyone he could. He and his wife, Christy, managed Doug’s U-Rent in California where he was well known for his kind heart, caring personality and hard work. They were staples of the community and people would drop by to visit them daily. Many officers of the California Highway Patrol of West Valley, CA office and detectives from the West Valley California Division stopped in often and became good friends with John and Christy. He planned many deep-sea fishing trips from Doug’s U-Rent. It was a sport and hobby he truly enjoyed. The comradery of his friends is what he enjoyed most. He wanted everyone to have a good time and hoist an Olympia beer or two. John and Christy enjoyed going to the Knights of Columbus Fundraisers where they would dance to the music of the 1950’s era. John was raised in the Catholic Church. He was deeply loved by his wife Christy who will miss him dearly along with the rest of his family. He left this world with the echo of Christy’s “I love you” still sounding in his ears.
