COCHRAN, GA – John Irvin Boyd, 90, of Cochran, formerly of Moultrie, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022, in the At Home Senior Living.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 4, 2022, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Matt Peek officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
Casketbearers will be Peyton Clark, Daniel Durrence, Cannon Whatley, Caleb Yarbrough, James Watson, Jack Smith, Mary Grace Watson, and Brooke Durrence.
Born February 27, 1932, in Colquitt County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Irvin Boyd and Hattie Mims Boyd. Mr. John was a United States Army Veteran who served during in the Korean War. He and his wife, Mrs. Barbara, served the Lord through the nursery ministry program at First Baptist Church of Moultrie. Mr. John loved being around children and enjoyed the ones they kept at their home. He was a bookkeeper at several companies, include Moultrie National Bank, Tennile Banking Company, Moultrie Manufacturing Company, Ceves Stell Company, and Cobb Funeral Chapel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Sue Croft Boyd; son, Jerome Estes Boyd; daughter, Karen Kay Boyd; nine siblings.
Survivors include his daughter, Cassandra Boyd Bullington and husband Donald of Cordele; grandchildren, Mary Ellyn and husband Scott Williams of Cochran, James Howard Bullington and wife Ashley of Cordele; great-grandchildren, Emmie Williams, Kate Williams, Elly Scott Williams, Kori Bullington and Kyle Bullington.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Children’s Ministry, 400 South Main Street, Moultrie, GA. 31768.
