Joan Hamby Brinkley

 Joan Hamby Brinkley, 85, of Hartsfield, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021 at Cameilla Gardens of Life Care in Thomasville, GA.

          A graveside service will be held 10:00 AM Monday, May 10, 2021 at Hartsfield Cemetery with the Reverend Terry Webb officiating. 

          Born May 30, 1935 in Indianapolis, IN, she was the daughter of the late Lindsey Hamby and Rose Sellers Hamby.  Mrs. Brinkley retired from Tad’s Sportswear as a seamstress.  She was a very active member in Hartsfield Baptist Church and the Senior Center in Moultrie.   She enjoyed spending time with her family, writing notes of encouragement and serving others.   Mrs. Brinkley liked to read, work crossword puzzles, enjoyed flowers and working in the garden.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Gardner Brinkley; son, Andy Brinkley; daughter-in-law, Sharon Brinkley; son-in-law, A.J. Taylor; grandson, Brandon Anderson; brother-in-law, Ray Miller.

          Survivors include her children, Beth Taylor, Cheryl Bounds and husband Hugh all of Tallahassee, FL, Jimmy Brinkley and wife Lisa of Leesburg, GA, Gary Brinkley of Winter Haven, FL, Randy Brinkley and wife Carla of Meigs, GA, Sandra Lewis and husband Bill of Moultrie, Karen Alday and husband Lamar of Greensboro, FL; grandchildren, David Bounds and wife Ashley, Ashley Brinkley, Amanda Davis and husband Stephen, Miranda Harder and husband David, George Brinkley and wife Lauri, John Randall Brinkley, Jr. and wife Brittany, Drew Brinkley, Katy Reed and husband Derrick, Bethany Pilgrim and husband Chris, Justin Alday and wife Amanda, Kevin Alday; great-grandchildren, Avery, Ellison, Gavin, Gage, Olivia, Madelyn, Kiersten, Nora, Lilah, Ellie, Daphne, Kloee, Andilynn, Willis, Cameron, Hudson, Peyton and Madelyn; sisters, Jean Stinson and husband Bill of Lakeland, FL, Jane Miller of Manassas, VA; brother, Joe Hamby and wife Emily of Gainesville, FL;  and many beloved family members.
