Jimmie Yarbrough

Jimmie Yarbrough, 84, of Moultrie, passed away Friday, November 19, 2021, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Dr. Robert McCoy and grandson Doug Yarbrough officiating.  Interment with military rites will follow in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the chapel one hour prior to the service.

Casketbearers will be Doug Yarbrough, Blake Yarbrough, Stephen Mitchell, Randall DePew, Noah DePew, Baylin Dean, and Richie Yarbrough. 

Born October 20, 1937, in Thomas County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Fred Yarbrough and Ophelia Siniard Yarbrough Rodgers.  He proudly served his country in the Army. Mr. Yarbrough retired after serving 42 years as a supervisor with GTE and the State of Georgia. Mr. Jimmie never met a stranger, greeting everyone he met with a cheery hello and conversation.  He especially enjoyed fishing, camping, and riding motorcycles.  He was an avid fan of high school and UGA football.  His precious family members were near and dear to his heart, and the children and grandchildren always brought him great joy.  He and his wife were active members of Autreyville Baptist Church. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Melvin Yarbrough, Roscoe Yarbrough, Marvin Yarbrough; sister, Juanita Yarbrough; and step-father Wesley Rodgers.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Virginia Yawn Yarbrough; children, Delinda Russell and husband Rodney of Moultrie, Brenda Mitchell and husband Mark of Flagler Beach, FL, Olen Yarbrough and wife Carla of Warner Robins; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
