Jessie Eugene "Gene" Sellers

Moultrie, GA – Jessie Eugene “Gene” Sellers, 85, of Moultrie, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 9, 2025, at Lakeside Assembly of God with Reverend Steve Comer and Reverend Paul Milligan officiating. Private family interment will be at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Casketbearers will be Jeff Summerlin, Ashley Summerlin, Caleb Norman, Matt Hamm, Hayden Hamm, Evan Hamm, Scout Summerlin and Joshua Thompson.

Born May 26, 1939, in Moultrie, he was a son of the late Jessie Daniel Sellers and Ocie Nevels Sellers. He worked as Lab Technician at Proctor & Gamble for many years.

A dedicated Christian with a true servant’s heart, he was a faithful member at Lakeside Assembly of God, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of almost 65 years, Lucille Allen Sellers; and a brother, Jimmy Lee Sellers.

Survivors include his children, Debra Summerlin and husband Scott, Tammy Hale and husband Lamar, Joy Cooper and husband Scott, Tracy Norman and husband Lee; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; siblings, R.J. Sellers, Billy Sellers, Helen Strickland, Lorece Terry and Janie Sellers (Wayne); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
