Jerry Maurice Barfield, 77, of Doerun, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Grace Baptist Church with the Reverend Mike DeLoach and the Reverend Milford Stanley officiating. Private family interment will follow in Doerun City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 -11:00 AM at Grace Baptist Church.
Casketbearers will be Jordan Barfield, Dillon Hall, Ron Barfield, Tracy Barfield, Patrick DeLoach, Vic Manders, Tim Ketterson, Stevie Strickland and David Kent.
Born May 28, 1945, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was the son of the late Hansel Maurice Barfield and Hettie Lee Shiver Barfield. Mr. Barfield was a Charter Member, Deacon and Trustee of Grace Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and served Him by being a choir leader and a Sunday School teacher. Mr. Barfield was the owner and broker of Barfield Realty and Auction where he was a certified auctioneer. He was an advertising salesman for The Colquitt Shopper for 26 years. He loved his family dearly, enjoyed meeting people and never met a stranger. Until his untimely passing, he enjoyed selling real estate and being a cattle farmer. He will always be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, who will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Helen Thaggard Barfield of Doerun; children, Buffy Marya Hall and husband Eric, Jody Maurice Barfield and wife Stephanie Burtz Barfield all of Doerun; grandchildren, Jordan Maurice Barfield, Isabella Leanna-Grace Barfield, Dillon Hall and Cameron Hall; great-grandchild, Lucia Grace Barfield; siblings, Judy Barfield Smith and husband Garlan, Jackie Barfield DeLoach and husband Mike, Raye Barfield and wife Jeannie; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
