Jerry Wayne Castleberry

 Jerry Wayne Castleberry, 73, of Moultrie, transitioned to his heavenly home on Sunday, May 9, 2021 while at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. 

 Funeral services with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Reverend Matt Greene officiating.  Interment will follow at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the chapel one hour prior to the service.

 Casketbearers will include Tyler Tucker, Shawn Sutherland, Ryan Davis, Eddie Stephan, Jason Wilkes, and Ryan Sparkman.  Mr. Castleberry’s Sunday School class from Kingwood, along with Jake Wilkes and Ross Sparkman, will serve as honorary casketbearers. 

 Born June 8, 1947 in Moultrie, he was the son of the late Elzie C. Castleberry and Rosa Lee Tyson Castleberry.  Mr. Castleberry dearly loved his family.  He was an active member of Kingwood Baptist Church and enjoyed fellowshipping with his church family.  Serving others was his passion, as he often took part in youth activities and drove the church bus.  During his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, watching westerns, golfing, hunting, playing or watching softball, being outdoors, and camping.  Mr. Castleberry was a veteran, having served in the United States Army and loved his Moultrie VFW family.

 In addition to his parents, Mr. Castleberry was preceded in death by his nephew David Moody.

 Survivors include his son, Jonathan Paul Castleberry and Erin Roper of Warner Robins; siblings, Mary Ann Hancock of Moultrie, Barbara Moody and Nell Castleberry of Houston, TX, Caroll Castleberry and wife Paula of Mayo, FL, Debbie Freed of Albany, GA, Donna Spurlock of Moultrie; nieces, Lisa Moody, Kelly Valadez, Keri Wilkes and husband Jason, Kaci Sparkman and husband Ryan , Kati Stephan and husband Eddie; three great nieces, three great nephews; and special friend, Rev. Paul Voyles.
